vlasblauw is een Leuvens atelier gespecialiseerd in laskunde en engineering. Met een ingenieursachtergrond als
fundament, vormt doordacht denkwerk de basis van elk project. Van structuur tot detail, van techniek tot
scenografie: vlasblauw benadert elke opdracht met een combinatie van creativiteit, precisie en vakmanschap.
Ook voor projecten “out-of-the-box” vatten wij graag de koe bij de horens.
vlasblauw streeft naar laswerk van de hoogste kwaliteit. Certificering volgens EN 1090-2 EXC2 is ons
streefdoel tegen 2027.
vlasblauw werd in 2024 opgericht door Job Schuermans en Helene Druyts. Job is burgerlijk ingenieur en koos na een jaar doctoreren resoluut voor het praktische vakmanschap. Na een
intensieve lasopleiding startte hij zijn eigen atelier. In januari 2026 start hij de bijkomende opleiding
International Welding Specialist bij het Belgisch Instituut voor Lastechniek in Brussel.
Helene is meubelstoffeerder en textielexpert. Daarnaast ondersteunt en verrijkt ze het ontwerpproces van onze
projecten.
In 2025 trad Wito Van de Woestijne toe tot vlasblauw. Wito is ingenieur-architect en heeft vier jaar ervaring
als stabiliteitsingenieur in de bouwsector. Hij voltooide zijn architectuurstage binnen de Orde van
Architecten in 2023.
Het ingenieursschap zit in ons DNA. Als kinderen in de scouts ontwikkelden we al een intuïtieve aanpak voor
het bouwen van constructies. Die vroege nieuwsgierigheid, gecombineerd met onze professionele ervaring, vormt
vandaag het fundament van vlasblauw.
vlasblauw is a Leuven-based studio specialized in welding and engineering. Sprouted from engineering studies,
thoughtful and deliberate design drives every project we take on. From structural concepts to fine details,
from technical execution to scenography, we approach each assignment with a blend of creativity, precision,
and craftsmanship. We are equally enthusiastic about tackling unconventional, “out-of-the-box” challenges.
We strive for welding work of the highest quality. Achieving certification in accordance with EN 1090-2 EXC2
is our goal for 2027.
vlasblauw was founded in 2024 by Job Schuermans and Helene Druyts. Job is a nanoengineer who, after a year of
doctoral research, chose to fully dedicate himself to hands-on craftsmanship. Following an intensive welding
training, he established his own workshop. In January 2026, he will begin the additional International Welding Specialist
program at the Belgisch Instituut voor Lastechniek in Brussels. Helene is a furniture upholsterer and textile
expert who supports and enriches the design process of our projects.
In 2025, Wito Van de Woestijne joined the atelier. Wito is an architectural engineer with four years of
experience as a structural engineer in the construction sector. He completed his architectural internship with
the Order of Architects in 2023.
Engineering is in our DNA. Spending our childhood at the scouts, we developed an instinctive approach to
building structures. That early curiosity, combined with our professional expertise, forms the backbone of
vlasblauw today.
